The Nigerian Tobacco Control Alliance paid an advocacy visit to the management of APCON. The NTCA Team was led by Olu’Seun Esan, the Programme Coordinator of NTCA. Among the Team were Mr. Micheal Olaniyan, Technical Resource Person W/A for Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids and Mr. Nwokorie Chibuike, NTCA Project Officer.
The Registrar of APCON promised to sustain the partnership between APCON and Tobacco Control Advocates in Nigeria to curb any form of Tobacco advertising especially in our entertainment industry. The APCON team emphasized the importance of sensitizing the populace more to know the inherent dangers of consuming tobacco in any form and why they should join the call for the ban of smoking in any entertainment material. In the APCON team that received NTCA were the Registrar/ CEO Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Mrs Ijedi Iyoha, Deputy Director Regulations, Monitoring and Enforcement, Mallam Ahmed Yelwa, Zonal Head APCON North-Central Zone, Mr. Emmanuel Ojo, Head, Admin and Finance APCON and Mr. Chukwudi Ezeaba, Head Legal APCON. The NTCA Team promised to provided the needed technical support to APCON for the enforcement of ban of tobacco use/advertising in the Nigerian works of art.
